"活在當下"這個概念在我們的生活中經常被討論,但實際上,我們無法僅僅活在當下。這是因為,如果只有當下這一刻,就如同只有一張圖片無法製成動畫一樣,我們無法真正活著。我們的生活需要過去和未來,而未來則必須從當下誕生。因此,"活在當下"的真正含義是充分利用當下的時刻,為未來做好準備,我們可以理解為"活好當下"。

這裡有一個現象能表達如何活好當下:當我們感到悲傷的時候,只需靜靜地坐著,觀察自己此刻的情緒,思考它的來龍去脈,就能有效地緩解悲傷。這個現象也反映出活好當下的真諦:提高專注力,經常專注於觀察與自己有關的現實,掌控好自己的本能、情緒,甚至整個生命。

活好當下對我們的意識成長十分有利,因為意識是對當下的感知,以及對未來的預測。我們只能存在於此時此地,也就是當下這個時空。過去的已經過去,無法執著。未來的還未到來,無法強求。所以最重要的是把現在的事情做好。這種生活態度,能使我們的意識集中於有益自己生命的事情,從而獲得成長。

生命所有意義都與未來有關,因此我們必須為未來而活。目前我們所做的一切,都是為了未來打下基礎,而把現在的事情做好,就是立於過去而建設未來。能夠這樣活著,就是活好當下。認識到這一點,我們就會做出正確的選擇,為未來的行動做好準備。例如不設定過於具體的長期目標,也不設定太宏偉的短期目標,而專注於踏出的每一步能夠準確落地。把注意力集中於即將出現的事物,也是享受當下的最佳方式。

活好當下,表示我們在當下始終與未來保持清晰的聯繫,讓生命穩定、正確地走向未來。對當下的專注,只是沉迷於過去,因為看到的當下已成過去。這好比走路。如果總是記起以前摔跤的經歷,就會減低我們對前路的關注,導致更容易摔跤。這些意識有助我們擺脫分心或拖延的習慣。

正因為一切行動都必須為未來而進行,所以我們必須專注於未來。然而,專注於未來並不意味著忽視過去。當我們遇到困難,需要停下來重新規劃未來的時候,對過去進行回顧和反思就會起到積極的作用,不僅不會干擾對未來的關注,還會提供經驗和教訓,幫助我們作出更好的決策。

值得強調的是,專注於未來並不表示對未來抱有很大的期望,因為期望會使我們過份關注自己的主觀設想,而忽視現實的變化,與沉迷於過去有相同的效果。此外,各種儀式或冥想有助我們放鬆、平復情緒,可以作為緩解壓力的方法,但需要留意形成倚賴的問題。無論對甚麼事物,一旦產生依賴心理,都會干擾我們對未來的關注。

因此,要活好當下,我們需要放棄不切實際的夢想,因為它會導致我們陷入一個夢幻的境地,這個夢境的一切都是由過去的零碎記憶拼湊而成,但卻讓我們視為一個可能的未來。例如,擁有永恆的生命是不切實際的夢想,因為生命是一個過程,必然有終點。這個夢想是以古代神話為素材構成的,我們可以用擁有健康長壽這個理想去取代它,保持追求延長生命的目標。我們需要認識到,雖然夢想可以提供一些生活的動力,但完全能夠以理想作取代,讓我們對未來有一個合理和建設性的藍圖。

我們還需要活出生命的意義,努力實現生命的目標,讓生命更好地延續,才是真正活好當下。因此,我們需要把握當下的機會,努力生存和建立連結。換句話說,如果我們生為女人,就應該活出女人的價值,而生為男人也應該活出男人的價值。我們需要理解和欣賞彼此在需要上的差異,互相給予所需,建立一個深度連結的關係,讓生命有更強健的後代。就像雌蕊與雄蕊在一起的花朵,自在而燦爛地開放,並結出纍纍的碩果。
